make a CHANGE in your school!

As we struggle with budget cuts in our schools in this dreadful California budget crisis, we all are doing what we can to keep our vital school programs alive.  This week our school has initiated a “change jar competition” between the grades to inspire more donations…every penny adds up and can ultimately save a teacher’s job, a music program, PE and anything else on the chopping block.  I made stickers for the kids to wear or stick on folders or skateboards if they donate…time to empty our piggy banks!

Our neighborhood had a lemonade stand on Memorial Day and raised $41 for our school!

one jar for each grade: K-1-2

Celebrating Susie!

Just 2 days until the big wedding! well, the lovebirds actually eloped but we will be hosting the reception at our home on Saturday.
Last month, we convinced Susie to steal away for a “girls weekend,” wine tasting in Santa Barbara and Los Olivos.
(she refused to call it a bachelorette party since we are in our 40s and it is her second marriage)

She also made it VERY CLEAR that she would not wear a veil, or any silly/sassy bachelorette stuff, but I couldn’t help myself. I found Tatoo Paper at Michaels and printed “kenny” hearts for all of us to wear and a muscle bound sailor tat with her hubby’s face photoshopped on! They were a huge hit with the gals, not sure I can say that about the winery owners. Not the “classiest crew” coming through for winetasting, but we sure had a blast.

by the way, i would recommend small tatoos on this peel and stick paper…the larger images did not apply smoothly and the edgesrolled up and peeled off. bummer, but the idea was fun :)

Save a Tree, Forget the Wrap!!

Okay, i might be bragging a bit, but our shipping boxes are just too cute to cover up!
besides, since Earth Day is coming, we can save a tree and forget the wrap. My new favorite gift for
kids is a pack of thank you notes & gift labels, with a darling lap desk by Room it Up.

I first heard about them on the fab trend site, CoolMomPicks.com
This gift is a hit with the birthday girl and their mother (earth) too!

Hello again!

Hi everyone! So sorry we’ve been MIA for a bit, Holiday Madness is here!!!! We’re all trying to accomplish long to-do lists but I promise to give this blog a little more love. :) I hope everyone’s summer was great, it went by so fast!

So for our first blog of the fall, I’d like to introduce you to a friend of ours: Connor Barry! Or, should we say- Mr. Representative? :D .. Connor recently ran for the position of Class Representative for his fifth grade class. His slogan was, “Vote for Connor Barry or it’s gonna get scary!” We made some campaign stickers (customized from our Boo! Halloween gift labels) and some 8×10 Campaign signs for his siblings to display. Needless to say, Connor won the election! Congrats from all of us, Connor!

“dom” voyage!

I guess I could blame it all on “Matt.” After seeing the awesome YouTube clip called “Where the Hell is Matt?”, we all have a bit of the wanderlust around here. Although I feel so blessed to be happily married with two kids, I can’t help but remember the days when I was single and carefree and could be spontaneous and leave town at the drop of a hat. So, we are all living vicariously through Dominque (“dom”, my very first employee!), as she takes the summer off to spread her wings and travel the world. We had a “dom voyage” lunch on her last day, and I finally found the excuse I needed to buy the “everything bag” AS SEEN ON TV. The commercial/video is hilarious…the tiny bag can be packed full with everything AND possibly the kitchen sink. Perfect for the carefree traveler that she is, leaving the country for 3 months with nothing more than a backpack, and now a buxton bag!
