Save a Tree, Forget the Wrap!!

Okay, i might be bragging a bit, but our shipping boxes are just too cute to cover up!
besides, since Earth Day is coming, we can save a tree and forget the wrap. My new favorite gift for
kids is a pack of thank you notes & gift labels, with a darling lap desk by Room it Up.

I first heard about them on the fab trend site, CoolMomPicks.com
This gift is a hit with the birthday girl and their mother (earth) too!

No More Tears

I’ve decided in my next “phase” of life, I will get back into cooking. My husband and I used to really enjoy our time together in the kitchen, but 2 kids, homework, sports, and both careers leave little time for more than Trader Joes in a bag! My daughter loves to help out and we often chop up things to add to the “bag”, but no one likes to chop the onion…until now.

Actually, kate said one day: “mom, we should where goggles to chop onions!” I thought it was such a brilliant thought, but obviously someoneelse beat us to the punch. This pink pair of “onion goggles” from Sur la Table are fun to wear and help to block out the “reflex tears.”

Oh my….MOZZA!

My husband is in the restaurant biz, and we have long been addicted to all shows on The Food Network, especially IRON CHEF. My kids love it too…the suspense of the “secret ingredient”, the drama created by host, Alton Brown and chairman, Mark Dacascos. When Mario Batali opened his L.A pizzeria called, MOZZA, we could hardly wait to go! Well, we have been trying to get a reservation for over a year…nothing ever available until after 10:00pm at night, and we are typically long asleep by then :)

This past weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating a friend’s birthday at MOZZA and it was sure worth the wait! The appetizers were insane…the Brussel Sprouts (yes, Brussel Sprouts) were divine and the Mozza Caprese was the best I’ve ever had. Not to mention the Brushette…oh my, MOZZA is amazing. Wondering if Mario will consider opening one in my town of Hermosa Beach.
I’ve got the perfect name for it: Her-MOZZA!

Not enough wallpaper in the world!

I’m obsessed with patterns these days…
It was 2 years ago that I fell in love with Mod Green Pod’s “Grand Jubilee”, and sad to say I still have
not finished my kitchen nook!

That is so me…starting another project before ever finishing the first.
WalnutWallpaper.com is an awesome resource, but I am more excited now about starting my own collection!
We will print the rolls in house with my sister company (MarcoFineArts.com) and the possibilities are endless!
Can’t wait to show you my bathroom remodel in our first pattern off the press…stay tuned.

Sunday Funday on Easter!

Easter was HOPPIN at my parents place this year…it was nice to not be entertaining for once, we literally just showed up! okay, a bottle of bubbly in hand
along with the FLIP FLOP BUNNY FAVORS for my nieces and nephews. I know my kids can never have two many pairs of thongs, and for $7.99 at Target, they make a darling gift.

I clearly get my whacky and wild entertaining gene from my mother who was handing out bunny ears to everyone as they pulled up in the driveway! Even my in-laws sported the ears and we all had such a great time watching the annual hunt
and celebrating my Great Grandmother’s 91st birthday. We all had a blast playing LADDER GOLF in the front yard…our new favorite past time, just usually not wearing bunny ears in the tournament :)

Hoppy Easter to you and yours….xoxo erin

Adorable Easter Eggs!

Easter is just around the corner!
I love these spring days with my kids, dying eggs, and of course the Peeps!
I’ve been looking around for some unique, simple and fun decorating ideas that your kids will love.
Here are a few of my favorites!
bubble wrap!

This is really simple and fun! All you need is a few strips of bubble wrap packing sheets. Just apply a thin layer of a acrylic paint to the bubble wrap and roll the blown out egg on it. Wait a few minutes for it to dry before using another bubble wrap strip to add another color. Simple! Feel free to get funk with this one! I bet aluminum foil, or maybe even corrugated cardboard would make for fun designs.
decoupage!

This is so unique! For this you will need some Mod Podge (which you can get at any craft store) and some magazine or newspaper images you want to use. Cut out these images carefully. If you want to dye your egg a color before adding the decoupage, make sure the dye is dry before the next step. Use a paintbrush to Mod Podge the area of the egg you plan on coving with the image. Lay the image down and let it dry!

The Make Shift Revolution is a online center for women who want to find a middle ground between the classic concept of motherhood and the “super mom” or today. The blog celebrates mothers who want to nurture their children, have a beautiful homelife, and strong careers. I love The Makeshift Revolution, and am honored to have a feature on it!
