Summer SPLASH!

my precious twin nieces are turning SEVEN this week! wow, seems like just yesterday they were born.  my clever and creative sister, TJ KELLEY, not only designs fabulous personalized jewelry, but is also a party planner extraordinaire!

You can steal this idea just by personalizing a pack of “Picture this!” Party Labels to stick on a beach bucket or any goody bag.  My team will create special invitations and party labels for any celebration this summer!

Married in Fiji, Party at my house!

My best friend (since I was born!) just eloped to Fiji! We were sad to not attend the barefoot on the beach ceremony, but now excited to host a rippin’ reception at our home this weekend! We have been in home improvement modefor weeks, and everything is finally coming together at the last minute.
As mentioned in a previous post, we are remodeling a bathroom that will literally be done the day before the big fun. We are printing the wallpaper in my shop today and a pro will be hanging it tomorrow!

After the paper is hung, my handy man is coming back to install the fixtures, including my fun sink/vanity that I designed from scratch. I need to add a third coat of paint tonight, these “ball” legs are not easy to cover but I think the end result will be worth all the labor.

I will post photos after the big party, but have a sneak peek of an Outdoor Canvas we are printing for the newlyweds!

We are printing it now and will coat it with a UV Protectant so it can hang outside for years to come. A great way to personalize a pool area or balcony, i think the couple will be surprised and thrilled to take home this party favor.

the clock is ticking…still so much to do!

Sunday Funday on Easter!

Easter was HOPPIN at my parents place this year…it was nice to not be entertaining for once, we literally just showed up! okay, a bottle of bubbly in hand
along with the FLIP FLOP BUNNY FAVORS for my nieces and nephews. I know my kids can never have two many pairs of thongs, and for $7.99 at Target, they make a darling gift.

I clearly get my whacky and wild entertaining gene from my mother who was handing out bunny ears to everyone as they pulled up in the driveway! Even my in-laws sported the ears and we all had such a great time watching the annual hunt
and celebrating my Great Grandmother’s 91st birthday. We all had a blast playing LADDER GOLF in the front yard…our new favorite past time, just usually not wearing bunny ears in the tournament :)

Hoppy Easter to you and yours….xoxo erin

A special night with Kelly Corrigan!

I’ll never forget the first time I watched the “transcending” clip on YouTube. My sister had called me and told me that I had to watch it, and I’m so glad that I did! I sat at my desk, laughing and crying, not wanting it to end.

I had met Kelly Corrigan at a book signing last year, and we instantly made  a connection. I was honored with the opportunity to work with her on the promotion of her new book, LIFT. I sponsored the event at a fabulous new book store in Manhattan Beach called PAGES.

I wish you all could have been there! Kelly did a reading from The Middle Place, and also from LIFT and we all just sat mesmerized by her strength, eloquence and hysterical sense of humor. She is such an inspiration and I was honored to be associated with her that night.

She signed a zillion books and we handed out sample packs of BOOK PLATES as party favors.

Monday FUNday: Jersey Shore style!

yesterday was absolutely hilarious! It was Tara’s turn to choose the theme, so she announced JERSEY SHORE! Having never seen the reality show, I needed some help from my young staff and neighborhood teenagers that follow the series. A “bump it” and a whooooole lotta “spray can tan” transformed us all into what we might look like if we lived in NJ!  I love costume parties and theme days, any excuse to dress silly and bring fun & laughter to the office.  HOWEVER, I may have overdone it this time.  The spray tan is NOT coming off, not matter how hard I scrub! Looks like I will live the life of an oompa loompa for the next few days :(

The best part is we did a google search: Jersey Shore Nickname Generator to find out what our  NJ names would be…try it, it’s too fun! MEET MY TEAM:

.. give me something good to eat!

Boo! In the spirit of All Hallows Eve tomorrow night,  I brought some goodies into the office for the gals! Chocolates, Sweettarts, Plastic Fangs and Gummy Fangs filled some candy bags I bought from Target. To top it off I made some Mini Folded Greetings (customized from our Boo! greetings) and stapled them shut. I made these a few days ago and have been bouncing up and down waiting to be able to pass them out! Hope your Halloween is just as sweet!

“dom” voyage!

I guess I could blame it all on “Matt.” After seeing the awesome YouTube clip called “Where the Hell is Matt?”, we all have a bit of the wanderlust around here. Although I feel so blessed to be happily married with two kids, I can’t help but remember the days when I was single and carefree and could be spontaneous and leave town at the drop of a hat. So, we are all living vicariously through Dominque (“dom”, my very first employee!), as she takes the summer off to spread her wings and travel the world. We had a “dom voyage” lunch on her last day, and I finally found the excuse I needed to buy the “everything bag” AS SEEN ON TV. The commercial/video is hilarious…the tiny bag can be packed full with everything AND possibly the kitchen sink. Perfect for the carefree traveler that she is, leaving the country for 3 months with nothing more than a backpack, and now a buxton bag!

prepare to get SOAKED!

custom invitation

A “super soaker” party can be the best way to celebrate a summer birthday! I’m not a big fan of “toy guns” in the house, but somehow calling it a “blaster” makes it okay with me. My son and his pals, with some help from the dads, divided into teams and had an all out BATTLE (and total blast!) in the front yard.  The dads helped with the hose at the refilling station, and the ski goggles were an added accessory and eye protector. While the blasters themselves can be quite expensive, I found them on sale at Etoys.com. Each pal got to take it home as a party favor, so really that was the main expense of the party.  I printed waterproof stickers to personalize the soakers, and found inexpensive Hanes tank tops (4 in a bag) at Target for the team uniforms. Hot dogs on the front steps and a “cupcake cake” made at our Vons Bakery finished off the perfect day of celebrating seven with a splash!

Yum-O!

How incredibly adorable are these cupcakes?! Such a fantastic idea, too- I kind of want to leave the office right now and try making these myself! If you head on over to Bakerella (thanks to Brandy for the link!) there is a complete tutorial on how to create these gems for you and your family! Hint Hint: Dad would love them this Sunday!

rock on!

If the weather doesn’t cooperate this holiday weekend, we still have fun planned indoors.  My family is now obsessed with Guitar Hero! We’ve hooked many friends and neighbors of all ages and we will most likely be jammin’ at our block party on Sunday.  The kids love to play, even as “beginners”, and most adults still play on “easy.”  I like to brag that “I’m not EASY, I’m MEDIUM!”  You’ll know what I mean if you are a fellow rocker.  I am totally blown away by the EXPERT level and know that I will never achieve such excellence…I’ve become a mediocre “musician” and it definitely has unleashed my inner rock star.  Loads of family fun, you just might discover the next Neighborhood Idol.
